Job Title: Application Support Engineer with Windows platform

Duration: 6+ months

Location: Washington, DC, US

 

Application Support Engineer – Contractor Position

SUMMARY –  Provide operations support for LivEdgar and related applications, including: identifying failures and responding to incidents; analysis and troubleshooting; mitigating impact and restoring service; and coordinating and completing requested changes while ensuring high application availability and stability.

 

Primary duties

·         Provides initial analysis of process failures and coordinates the resolution within department.

·         Provides operations support through - job setup and scheduling; performance and failure monitoring.

·         Ensures accurate and timely completion of daily and other periodic operations tasks.

·         Provide well-written documentation, and update existing documentation as changes occur.

·         Requests/develops in-house utilities to assist in LIVEDGAR operations functions.

·         Works closely with customer support to communicate technical issues, receive feedback about customer problems, and coordinate changes.

·          Assists manager with on-call support as directed and follows established procedures.


Skills and Experience:

·         2+ years of experience with LAN OS such as Windows Server 2003 and 2008 and its related hardware, utilities and applications, Active Directory, and email software.

·         Familiarity with command line, Windows Script or any other script language, as well as techniques to troubleshoot application failures.

·         Experience with TCP/IP, Internet technology and related development applications and some working knowledge of Visual C++ to aid in troubleshooting application failures.

·         Experience with SQL Server preferred.

·         Understanding of network technologies a plus.

·         Familiarity with HP Service Manager or similar ticketing system.

·         Strong analytical & problem solving skills for assessing issues.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Flexibility working nights and weekends.
