Job Title: Java Developer - NMS

Duration: 7 months
Location: Germantown, MD, US

Qualifications:

Be a part of the world class team for building next generation network and element management systems (NMS/EMS) for our client's broadband satellite Internet products.

Degreed software developers with the right mix of Java, Linux, Web service, SQL and OO design ability to contribute to this and other product lines.

Ideally the candidate should have been in a small to medium size agile team, have very strong Java and Linux experience, numerous secondary skills, and perhaps some direct satellite system NMS/EMS work and team leader experience. Should be comfortable using the latest remote access technology to interact with peers at various sites across the country,
have very strong communication skills, and learn faster.

This role involves the full software lifecycle for the NMS/EMS, including interpreting requirements, distilling use cases, creating interfaces, designing and building software components in a Linux environment, software packaging and build automation, release management, documentation, integration and delivery. The candidate will work with everyone from system engineers
to network operations along the way.

Qualifications / Technical Requirements

4+ years' total development experience with several of the following: client/server Java, JUnit, RHEL or CentOS Linux, Apache TomCat, C++, XML, Oracle and/or MySQL, web services (RESTful/SOAP), JavaScript, JSON, RPM, SNMPv3 agents and clients, network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, LDAP).
3+ years development experience in Java specifically.

Expertise in OO based software design, integration and troubleshooting.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or etc.)

Preferences
- 2+ years' experience in the design and development of Network Management Systems or Element Management
     Systems (NMS/EMS).
- Advanced Linux sysadmin or scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python, PHP etc.)
- Expertise in developing, monitoring and/or troubleshooting of large scale satellite networks.
- Expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting of large scale terrestrial network systems and/or enterprise network products, especially in Element Engagement (device level).
- Familiarity with network management platforms such as the IBM Tivoli Suite (OMNIbus, TNPM, ITNCM),
     GroundWorks, HP OpenView etc.
- Expertise with building RPM packages.
- Familiarity with modern
     software methodologies including agile/scrum processes, test-driven
     development (TDD), and/or UML modeling.
- Experience working in a
     geographically distributed project environment.
- Communications engineering
     education and/or work experience, especially satellite related.
- Familiarity with build
     automation and versioning tools such as Ant, Maven, Perforce, Subversion,
     Hudson, or Clearcase.
- Advanced degree in engineering
     discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
