Heah Everyone.

Great news about the 2nd Semester offer. Well done to Mark and anyone
else that did a bit of lobbying. I won't be able to make the talk in
the college this evening. If anyone is going and they think anything
of note was said please send me a message and fill me in on the
highlights.

Hi all
NCI meeting Mon 2 Apr 2012
Up to half a dozen of us were at meeting which was for both Webtech and Software groups.
SCR1 was full so about 70 in total.
Assume split 50/50 so no more than 40 for webtech there.
Went through syllabus briefly for both groups.

Here are some notes I took on back of a Dunnes Stores receipt (Well at least I had a biro)

Webtech semester 1 looks the same except that MySQL seems to removed from Intro to Computers.
MySQL now on Software course only. Well at least we got an introduction.

Semister2
Looks like 2 modules Theory and Project as well as a small extra Jobs Bridge Module

Theory Module which will be Continous assesment 70% and Exam 30%
I think these will broken up into sections but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

XML
CSS
DOM (Javascript ?)
ASP.NET
DataStorage
Ajax

Rich Internet Applications
Human Computer Interaction
Adobe Flash CS3
Adobe Flex

Project Module
Something that you could present to potential employer as an example of your work.
Project can be on anything. I assume we will be given guidance.

Jobs Bridge Module
Worth 5% but of what I forget.
Creating a CV that will stand out from other Job seekers etc.
Cover letters etc
Job Search techniques etc
Sounds good and worth doing as well as getting a few brownie points for it.

The Software course is all about programming and looks difficult.
That not saying that Webtech will be easy

Well folks thats all I had room for on my receipt and my two pence halfpenny worth.

Just to let you all know, if your attending semester 2 and you have
already had confirmation etc, you dont need to attend the orientation
day.

Regards,
Declan

Fair play Alex,

There's some useful info there, especially knowing about ASP.net. Can get a little head start before we recommence. No excuses now....

Thanks again,

Enda.
