You can customise it the same way you customise firefox. There is an
incomplete tutorial here http://code.google.com/p/websecurify/wiki/TaskTrackerExtensionTutorial
 
You can also use frameworks such as jetpack if you are into commonjs
development.
 
May I ask what the thesis is about? :)
