Hi,

I just found this group today. Have some questions for you guys. How
did the first meet up go? How many people actually attended? Did
everyone found it helpful? Will you have another meet up soon?

Thanks!

Alice ran the combined Baltimore/DC meetup via preDevCamp, so she'd be
the best to ask about the success from that standpoint.

There were a fair number of folks who showed while I was there,
perhaps 15-20, with 10-15 at any given time.

I learned a few things (particularly how to run Palm Inspector!) and
met some interesting devs with some cool projects already going on.

Roy Sutton and I briefly discussed future northern VA events but
didn't determine any specific dates as yet. I'd also likely be
interested in another DC/Baltimore event, myself.

Where are you based, Evan?

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the response. I'm based in Sterling, VA. So I would
certainly be more interested in a NOVA location for meet ups. Did you
run into enough NOVA folks at the first meet up?

I'm very new to the mobile dev side of things. Would love to learn
something new.

Levi, Roy, and myself were all N VA folks, I think there were at least another 2 or 3 VA guys there.

New to mobile myself, having a lot of fun with it so far, and having it JS helps me a lot, as that's one of my daily-used languages. Just need to kick into high gear and get stuff done!

Great, sounds like we might be able to get something going in VA.

Anyway, started looking at Objective C, the ramp up time would be much
higher even with JAVA experience in the past. I'm currently working
ColdFusion, and some javascript, so the Palm Dev kit should be a much
easier jump for me compared to Objective C.

If you guys decide to do anything in VA sometime soon, definitely let me know.

Yeah, I've got some B-more folks interested in doing something more local.

I was thinking to tell people to join both lists for discussion, but go to the meet up closest to them.

Another idea somebody gave me was to have staggered events in case some people would want to go to both (probably the folks smack in the middle).

Many Thanks,
Alice Carback

Right on. Derek Meyer is another N VA dude, just wanted to name drop him as he was very interested in future meetups and I forgot to mention him before.

I like that idea, having a regional discussion online with local meets. Also like the alternating event dates thing.
