Not to steal Nick's thunder, but where do we want to have a first
meeting? I was thinking about contacting palm and seeing if we could
get some materials from them before hand? Maybe even some printouts
of the weboshelp.net page?

Should we take an inventory of who is where so that we can figure out what would be a convenient place for everyone?  I'm in Vienna, VA

So would somewhere in the NoVA or Rockville area work? If it was
Rockville theres a MicroCenter and starbucks on the Pike, if it was
Crystal City theres an endless number of places. Since there is
initially only three of us I don't suppose we need a huge area

What about acarback?  She's in Baltimore.  There are other folks listed both in Baltimore and DC on the PreDev website, should we try to contact them?

I'm happy to get more folks involved but personally won't be willing to travel more than 30 min on a semi-regular basis.

What's "semi-regular"? :-)  I don't think anyone was talking about anything more than an initial meeting, and even after that I wasn't counting on anything more often than once every few weeks...

Unless everyone else sees a reason I don't see why these meetings should occur any more than monthly... But that's a whole other conversation...

I am just outside of Baltimore on the southern end, Halethorpe.

As far as time preference, so long as its not Sunday before noon. For
location, just north of the Beltway. If it is farther, then it'd have
to be somewhere within walking distance of the DC metro lines.

Can't be before 3-4ish for me.  What about Silver Spring or one of the Cafe's in College Park?  College Park looks like just about dead center in the middle

So what does everyone think about this:  Next Sunday afternoon 4:00 pm, Starbucks cafe, at the below address, in/near College Park Maryland?

I'm on childcare duty most of this Sunday, but we are going to try to find someone to take our daughter for a couple of hours so I can make it.

I'm not likely to make this particular meetup, but hope to do something similar in the future, perhaps in another couple weeks to a month.

I do have some material I'll likely be posting to the list in the near future, too.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to confirm that this is still on.  Since Alice isn't coming, is there a place that might be more convenient to us at this point, or is it too late to change the location?  I figure that someplace in Rockville might be more convenient.  There's a Panera there that has free internet access, which might be useful.

Rockville could work. I was going to recommend to two locations in
Virginia but it looks like we have consensus on the Rockville
location. My two places were Idylwood Grill (free Wi-Fi and a place
where we could meet all day without issue) and Bear Rock (Right by
East Falls Church metro, free Wi-Fi and a 'meeting room' with a
door). Rockville, as I said, isn't too bad to get to from here.

As for myself, I'd rather meet up in northern VA too, but I would like to appeal to a larger group and if that means going a little farther I'm fine with that.

Actually, me and Matt already met on Sunday.  I'm guessing you are suggesting venues for the PreDevCamp thing that Alice is organizing for August 8?  I think she is trying to find a place around College Park since that is a lot more reasonable for developers coming from Baltimore...
