Okay, so I'm having trouble getting a place on campus for the event. Here's my other thoughts:
  • an event in college park for the all of the Baltimore/Washington area
  • an event at a food venue w/ free wifi (thinking Panera)
  • blocks of activity and open space
    • 8am - 10am : breakfast and morning open social
    • 10am - 12am : morning session of structured activities
    • 12pm - 2pm : lunch and afternoon open social
    • 2pm - 4pm : afternoon session of structure activities
    • 4pm - 6pm : un-conference style, show and tell what you've done so far
    • 6pm - let out for post dev happy hour?
  • this set up would let
    • you don't have be there all day
    • free wifi
    • good food
    • bathroom
  • downfalls
    • won't work for a super large turn out
    • we can't be too noisy
I'm thinking about making a Google Doc's form to get a rough head could.

What are your thoughts?

I agree totally. At the last meeting we actually met at a Panera. I would have to say another downfall would be the lack of power outlets and reasonably sized tables. Still Panera currently best meets our needs. I was thinking monthly or bi monthly?

Powerstrips and netbooks? I'll make it work :)

Right now I'm thinking Saturday, August 8th as an official preDevCamp event.

But we can definitely get names of people in the area who'd like to come back for a monthly meet-up.

I prefer monthly.

Many Thanks,

I may be down for this, provided the date works out right. How much notice are we talking?

I think a minimum of two weeks notice would be best, honestly

I'd be up for August 8th. Are we still saying all day event?  If it is it'd be better to have these every month or so, instead of weekly or bi weekly.

I'm thinking of two different types of events.

Aug 8 would be an all day "official" preDevCamp event following the format I suggested in my first e-mail.

After the "official" preDevCamp event, we could have a DC webOS meet-up that'd be for an afternoon every 2 - 4 weeks.

Many Thanks,

This is along the lines of what I was imagining, too.

I plan on contacting all the users from the DC preDevCamp list who are on Twitter in the next day or so (most of them are on Twitter) but have not done so yet.

Alice, how many folks do you think might meet up from Balto area for a conjoined DC/Baltimore shindig? After I've talked to all the Twitterheads I'll get a number for DC and we can have better expectations for space needed, etc.
