Can search functions in Webonary please be re-updated so that we 1) have the option to search in either/both languages without the need to select one or the other; and 2) have the option to pull up all instances within a part of speech category while keeping the search text blank?

Both of these used to be options but a recent update has changed them. If this can be fixed on the user end, please let me know what I should do to bring these functions back. Thank you!

Rebecca,

I am part of SIL’s Dictionary & Lexicography Services (DLS), which manages Webonary. We have logged your requests in the database where we manage all bug reports, feature requests, and so on. In order to prioritize the things you’ve asked for together with all of the other items on the to-do list, it would help us if we could understand the use case for your #1. (The rationale/use case for your #2 is clear to us and needs no further explanation.)

The language selection was designed to work much like it does in FLEx, where you can search in only writing system at a time. We didn’t imagine that people would be wanting to search in multiple languages at once, so examples of what you might be searching for and why, where specifying the language is a hindrance, would be helpful to us in prioritizing this request.

It would also be helpful to know if the current behavior is a problem for only one or two people or for many, so if there are others of you subscribed to this list who are experiencing the same pain as Rebecca, please let me know.

Thanks,
