How to go to entry from back end comment interface? And why don't they get notified when I reply?

I'm starting to have a collaborator use the comment section and it works great… kind of.

First question: How to go to entry from back end comment interface?

2026-02-04 16_45_44-screenshot_anonymized.png

The link under "view post" is https://www.webonary.org/sinhala/?webonary_cloud=cloud-1541 When I click that it takes me to the home page of the dictionary, not the entry.

If I click on the entry word (the word above "View Post") it takes me to https://www.webonary.org/sinhala/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=all which is the back end interface.

How to I go to the actual entry page?

Question 2: why don't they get notified when I reply?

When I reply to the comment (with a comment) I would expect them to get an email notification that I have replied. So far, they haven't. Am I right to expect this behaviour?

Thanks so much!

Related to this, the link in the notification I get when someone leaves a comment just goes to the dictionary home page. E.g.

It's not a big deal, but perhaps a clue if something is going wrong.

Why would you want to update the entry in webinary? Wouldn’t you rather update it in flex, the source?

All the best,

You are correct that the updating of the entry needs to happen in flex. But if the comments are going to be a conversation with collaborators, then it is best done on the front end of Webonary where I can see the entry they are commenting on and make my reply there.

Perhaps the commenting system is only meant to be a one way, one time communication. (that would explain why the commenter doesn't get an email when I reply with a comment).  In any case, it's helpful to see their comment in the context of the entry (on Webonary) instead of going back and forth between the WP back end and FLEx.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding how it all works and can use the feature correctly to the best advantage.

Question 1: Because of how the data is stored, the link to the entry in the comments admin section doesn't work. You have to copy the headword and search for it in the dictionary.

Question 2: According to Wordpress there isn't a built-in mechanism for notifying commenters of a reply.

Kind regards,

Peter

Thank you! I guess the sites I have used that offered reply notifications were using a plugin. I can appreciate that you may not want to do that since the number of people needing this may be small.
