I am new to Webonary, and I succeeded in uploading my dictionary, but I see there is no formatting at all in the Webonary version. In addition, the spaces between many words are taken out, so that they are run together. I did notice some error messages during the upload from Fieldworks, so that could be the reason. When I look at other dictionaries on Webonary, I see there are some with the same problem, but others are nicely formatted with different fonts and colors. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks, Alan

Alan,

Your dictionary should look the same on Webonary as it does in the Dictionary view in FLEx. If not, check to be sure that the correct "view" (e.g., Root-based) is selected in the Upload to Webonary dialog box in FLEx when you are doing the upload.

If what you see in the Dictionary view in FLEx is not what you want, you can learn the basics of configuring your dictionary by taking the online lexicography course (free!) that Dictionary & Lexicography Services has developed: https://sites.google.com/sil.org/dls-course/. In particular, lessons C8. Basics of Configuration and D9. More Configuration Basics may be of help to you.

Does that help?

Thank you, Kevin. I had followed the procedure you outlined correctly, but it gave the result I indicated. I am attaching images of my dictionary in Fieldworks, and of the version on Webonary after uploading. I am also attaching the view of the Ninam dictionary on Webonary, which apparently has the same problem. Alan

Alan,

Please upgrade to the latest version of FLEx (https://software.sil.org/fieldworks/download/fw-91/fw-9122/) and try again. Thank you.

Thank you, Verna. I did that, and also ran the error utility, and when I uploaded to Webonary again, the formatting was correct. Alan
