fully customizing look and feel, branding (logo), etc.

Is it possible to fully customize the look and feel of the webonary 'plugin' (I am assuming it's a plugin to Wordpress)? I am interested in customizing the branding, i.e. logo, header, footer, layout, etc. I see older posts mention customizing css but that feature, it seems, is disabled or not accessible now.

I know this is a bit of advance requirements for most of the users, but for those of us who are capable to venture a bit deeper into the Webonary plugin, like myself, I would love to either:

1. have these advanced features accessible with appropriate user roles, or
2. make Webonary plugin available so we can host our own Wordpress instance with this plugin available with full customization ability (plugin source code is accessible in Wordpress if you have full admin rights).

There is a Webonary plug-in available on GitHub, which is being used by Webonary.org; however, we are not maintaining it for use on other Wordpress websites, e.g. the GitHub repository hasn't been updated for 8 years.

In order to maintain the SIL branding on the Webonary.org site, we only allow customization of the appearance by adding a header image or a background image, e.g. https://www.webonary.org/lugwere/.
