Awhile back I created a super-simple notify.io-to-Growl-for-Windows
bridge by modifying Jeff's Python client, but I was looking for
something a little more user-friendly to use on a daily basis. In that
vein, I present the notify.io app for Windows:

Download:
http://www.growlforwindows.com/gfw/d.ashx?f=plugins/notify.io.zip

Source Code:
http://www.growlforwindows.com/gfw/d.ashx?f=plugins/notify.io_source.zip

It is completely utilitarian (ie: not pretty), but it works well. The
code for Growl for Windows to natively support notify.io uses the same
underlying classes and is essentially done, but I am holding off on
releasing it quite yet since I am about to roll out the final version
of GfW and didnt want to introduce any new features right now. In the
meantime, this does the trick for me.

Nice! I'll check this out in a VM later. ;)

Also, you should get on the notify.io list. We had a big discussion on Saturday about how users will set up notify.io considering multiple channels, user-friendliness, etc. I posted the output here: http://groups.google.com/group/notify-io/browse_thread/thread/348d8e9e1603d963

Anybody interested in notify.io should be on that list! (So we don't hijack this list just for notify.io)

PS: I released remindify.com last night as another cool use of notify.io

yeah, i checked out that list a few times (including this morning) and
there were never any discussions, so i didnt know if it was being used
or not. but i will get on it now so i can stay in the loop.

yeah, i have been playing with it a bit. not specifically related to
reminify, but is there a good way to identify a 'source wants
approval' notification vs. a normal notification? i had my listener
running when i created a reminder for the first time and i got the
message about how remindify needed approval - but i didnt grab the
JSON that was sent down, so i couldnt inspect it. is there anything
identifying about it that separates it from any other notification? (i
would like to pull out the icon from those messages to use as the
'application' (source) icon since each individual notification may use
a different icon).

Good idea for the approval notification. My first impulse is to add another key of 'approval' with a value of true ... what do you think? Although, just because you get an approval request, doesn't mean that will approve it.

Also, for remindify it seems like good practice to send a welcome notice as soon as possible (in this case when you first login) that will trigger the approval notice.

Another thing, do you think it's a good idea to replay the last couple notifications once approved (since you'd have missed them)?
