I got an alert from paypal that my account was charged by SCRIBD for $12.98. Was surprised because I never heard of SCRIBD before. I immediately reported Unaothorized activity with Paypal support only to be told that it was not unauthorized? I also immediately canceled the recurring furture payments from Manage Scribd Payments.
I did some google search and found similar reports by Paypal users that they were also charged by this company and some reports of this company hacking into paypal accounts. Are there other people in here with similar issue? I would be very cautiious of this company and report them to the BBB.

I'm sorry to hear your unauthorized dispute regarding a subscription payment towards SCRIBD was denied. Typically, unauthorized disputes cannot be approved on subscription transactions if the subscription was established prior to the unauthorized transaction. For example, if you had initiated the first payment a few months ago, and then someone hacked into the SCRIBD account to make more payments, there wouldn't have been any unauthorized PayPal logins.
However, since it sounds like this was the first subscription payment to take place, I recommend reaching out to PayPal's Customer Support and requesting an appeal. You can contact Support by clicking 'Contact' at the bottom of any PayPal page. Support is also available if you send a DM to @AskPayPal on Twitter or Instagram at instagram.com/PayPal. Additionally, you can send a PM to facebook.com/PayPal.

This has just happened to me too. I do not have a Scribd account and have never used Scribd. Yet, PayPal is saying the transaction is not unauthorized. PayPal this is an ongoing issue - clearly there is a problem.

Scribd has perks that come with a paid subscription. One of these perks is CuriosityStream. I have a user name and password to login to CuriosityStream. Can I use this same login information on my Roku to get CuriosityStream without paying for it again? I don't see anyway to sign into CuriosityStream on Roku without creating a new CuriosityStream account and getting charged for it again. Please let me know. Thank you.
I searched for CuriosityStream on my Roku box, not the Roku channel, then clicked on CuriosityStream. It brought up the channel with lots of shows on it, just like any other channel on my Roku box. I did not add the channel. I already have a CuriosityStream login, and I looked for a way to log into CuriosityStream on my Roku box, but did not find a way to do this without adding another subscription fee.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Scribd at all cost. I signed up for the free trail, did not find much to keep me, CANCELLED the trail and what they did was NOT cancel, put my account on Hold and then resume billing my card months later. When I finally caught on to what was going on 9 months had gone by and even after talking to their support they did not want to give me more than 1 month of my money back.
Oh and you can be sure you have canceled your account when you get an email from Scribd saying your automatic payment every month has been canceled. And then they send you another one asking you to stay and offering you a free 30 days ?
And btw, I only canceled my account as I discovered I had a 3 month free account through a Samsung Galaxy tab I just bought, so I reverted to that one. But will definitely be keeping the service once the free trial expires as I love it.
I have cancelled my account twice now and been billed again the next month due to their deceptive cancellation practices. Three screens is outrageous enough, but to have to scroll down and confirm cancellation again (written in tiny tiny print versus the giant Stay with Scribd button) is completely ridiculous and deliberate deception. I did not know that authors receive no money. These are not ethical business practices.
I have a problem in unsubscibing my account. What is the best thing to do to stop or cancel my account it is not helping me it continues add problem because it always deduct from my credit card. I intend to stop it . Hope you will tell me what to do.
Right now i was trying to cancel my scribd account for the past 3 days
First of all when they send me the UPDATE PAYMENT email .. when i click into and try to click the profile thing in the top right of the email, it goes straight back to UPDATE PAYMENT
I cancelled I think back in September and just realized I have been being charged for the past 4 months. I know for a fact it said my account was cancelled when I did it originally, but when I logged in today of course it shows everything as active.

We're a monthly subscription service and our system doesn't show a prior cancellation on the account, which is why they were billed.
That quite a few was the exact number of documents accessed all on the same day, I went back and checked. IF an account was made, I received absolutely no email confirmation, with no receipts for payment. I never received any form of email communication from Scribd in the time I was subscribed. Not a single email. This behaviour is shady at best, and I should not be paying for a service I wasnt even aware I was subscribed to, with no communication being received from the company.
