Keys to this Position
1. The candidate must have WebLogic, preferably Oracle Fusion which is
Weblogic’s most recent version.
2. Tomcat is also required.
3. The candidate will likely also have Load Balancers and some
development. background, such as Java and Spring Frameworks.
Messaging is also a plus.
4. This is a middleware engineering role (not a developer/architect
or admin).
5. The candidate should be well versed in Infrastructure and ITIL
processes.
Job Description
Our client’s Middleware Delivery team seeks a Sr. Middleware Engineer
who will be responsible for the evaluation, design, build, and support
of middleware products. This individual will be primarily responsible
for building middleware infrastructure and delivering application
teams value-add services including products evaluation, system design,
performance tuning, capacity management, and systems integration. The
person will also be responsible for promoting standard IT processes
and architectural best practices.
Breakdown of Role:
• Strong system analysis, design and research skills.
The position breaks down as follows: 50% hands-on systems build and
delivery, 25% infrastructure design, and 25% service delivery: working
with infrastructure teams, support engineers and developers across
teams.
• Very close to the technology - research, design, prototype
and configure middleware infrastructure.
• - Core Java and JEE.
• - Application Servers: WebLogic, Oracle Fusion, WebSphere
and Tomcat
• - Other Technologies: Load Balancers, Web Servers and Java
development framework (e.g. Spring).
• - Messaging: WebSphere MQ, Active MQ and JMS.
• - Database: Oracle 11g.
• Good knowledge of ITIL practices - Configuration, Change and
Release Management and CMDB.
• Strong Infrastructure Management background - capacity
planning, performance management and security.
Key Activities:
• As a Senior Middleware Engineer the candidate will have
following responsibilities.
• Work on the design, implementation, deployment, and support
of the middleware infrastructure.
• Evaluate middleware product's features, upgrades and
migration path
• Work with platform, operations and application teams to
implement middleware infrastructure standards, best practices and
guidelines.
• Conduct Infrastructure configuration tests by developing
test plans, scripts and presenting results.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring, promoting
adherence to standardized IT processes, strategic principles and
architectural standards.
Job Qualifications:
• 6+ years in middleware technologies including WebLogic,
WebSphere, Tomcat, JMS and Spring Framework.
• 2+ years in Java/JEE development.
• Knowledge of WebSphere MQ, Active MQ and Oracle UCMis a
strong plus.
• Project management skills is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-
oriented environment.
