This Jungle isn't my baby, I'm just a temporary babysitter, so I don't
have a copy of the official Jungle rules, but to asist new Jungle
Denizens the following rules apply:

1. This is a very informal place, and the dress code is casual. The
basic rule, as I see it, can be summed up in the line "Have a Take
and Don't suck."

2. If you have something Non-plant related to post, begin your subject
line the word TIKI to denote that the subject is for the TIKI LOUNGE.
The TIKI LOUNGE is a FREE SPEECH AREA where Politics and other
Sensitive topics are discussed. IF you are offended by such
discussions please delete anything listed as TIKI.

3. The Jungle has it's own idiomatic "Gloss" or style, but I'm not
qualified to comment on that, as It's not my baby. I'll let my
superiors handle that "take".

OUT!

Thanks a bundle Chris for making this for the tropical plant-heads who
felt like they were left blowin in the wind; out in the temperate
zone, the gulag or palm myopia.

Chris has Spectre's blessing to set up this temp forum and use the
WebJungles copyrighted name while he puts his efforts into creating
the next chapter of the most plantasmic tropical web site.

Just asking for clarification about your wording re "deleting" Tiki
posts??? I assume you mean in the posts forwarded to our private
email.

I would add that you can set your email options to delete any message
automatically with Tiki in the heading. You can also set your email to
delete anything with webjungles in the return address if you prefer to
just go to the site because you may prefer not to have your mail box
filled with messages. Heck, anyone can set options to delete
absolutely any message with any word(s) you wish it to - so there is
no excuse to be offended by fowl (or foul) language from any
source. ;-).

One thing not permitted on any forum in the Jungle is cutting anyone's
vine. (AKA flamming!) . Again, if you are offended by something in the
Tiki, avoid it. If there is something you feel is offensive posted
without Tiki in the heading - let Greenman/Chris know because he owns
this google site.

I would note that none of the members invited here are known to knock
or verbally abuse other members, so give everyone space to misspeak or
misunderstand, rant over some trial or tribulation, be hung over, or
otherwise come off grouchy on occasion.

Lucky bamboo, roses (referred to as "carrot tops") and growing
coconuts in California are forbidden topics on the Jungle. It is an
inside joke if you haven't been around long so don't sweat it. But you
will be scorned with attitude if you persist.

Damn, burst my bubble, Kit. I was seriously thinking about taking that
job with my company out in Stockton, CA. First thing I was going to do
was plant a rose bed with a coconut in the center, and go to the
flower market to buy bundles of lucky bamboo that I can edge the whole
thing with...

I definitely missed webjungle.... It was nice to read about palms, but
even nicer to read and talk about tropical plants. I am definitely not
a palm myopian. If you see my garden, I probably have the same number
of trees as palms. I definitely love my flowering trees, heliconias,
gingers, bamboo, fruit trees, cordylines, crotons, flowering shrub,
etc, etc, etc. So, thank you Chris for setting this up... before I
post about tropical plants in other forum that I am supposed to post
in.

Regards, Ari :)

this is just temporary, hopefully it'll serve until we can go to the new site.

The ease of use trumps editing IMO. If you like a spelling check you
can install the Google toolbar. But why mess with spontaineity?? ;-))
And "temporary" may be a long time the way things have been going.

I don't mind... just I am not very thorough in checking my post before
I click 'send'. And you can in a few of my post... sometimes they did
not make sense :).

The thing I miss is not having italics available! My taxonomy
professor of several years drilled into my head that botanical names
were always italicized or underlined, or else they were as wrong as
the name applied incorrectly or misspelled. I just feel like I'm
walking out the door without pants on...So if I'm standing up there
and St Peter kicks me back, I'll blame Spec...

Spec has nothing to do with Google :-) Keyboard strokes don't work
either. But you can code in foreign characters like á, ñ, £ So maybe
there is a code to do italics or underline (publishers' equivalent of
italics). .
