In case some of you were not aware: Google Wave is using WebHooks, in the form of what they call "robots", participants in a wave (which could be instant messages, email, a document, or include any kind of gadget) through HTTP hooking.
http://code.google.com/apis/wave/extensions/robots/Unfortunately, these robots currently have to be hosted at Google App Engine. We'll see how the spec turns out when they allow hosting robots on your own domain.
