Hi Won,

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly!

I'm actually interested in using the open-3d-viewer which uses the
webgl-loader library, hence my question on this forum - I believe you
are involved with the viewer too? At the moment I'm simply trying to
get familiar with the viewer, WebGL and webby stuff in general. My
current aim is to be able to create or edit existing models that
represent 3D versions of some 2D data sets that are available to me
and display them in a browser. I would then like to be able to drive
the open-3d-viewer and the 2D display app together in some way so that
both data sets can be compared.

As far as my original question is concerned I've made the changes you
suggested and now have the objcompress tool working. Thanks!

So prior to my original question I had downloaded and built the
open-3d-viewer source, and obtained the cow anatomy dataset that comes
with it. I've been playing around with this, i.e. trying to edit, save
and then load it into the 3d viewer but I'm not sure of the best tools
and processes to achieve this. Firstly, I have checked that my version
of the objcompress tool is working correctly by re-generating the utf8
and cow_anatomy.js files for the Bessie.obj dataset - this seems fine
and I can load it into the viewer. Following this I've tried to use
Blender to simply import and then export the model and then use
objcompress on the exported model but with no success to date. The
exported file is about half the size of the original and using
objcompress gives several "WARNING: Unknown keyword at line ****"
warnings before crashing.

My question maybe better direct at the open-3d-viewer forum but it's
basically, what is the most convenient and easiest format to produce
models for loading into the viewer and what tools and processed should
be used? Specifically for this forum, if I use the webgl-loader
library to convert files how can I achieve this? And can I use Blender
(I suspect there are some settings I need to apply) or some other free
package?

Thanks again.
Paul
