W3C TPAC에서 WebCert 발표결과

안녕하세요. ETRI 조상래입니다.
이번 W3C TPAC에서 WebCert 발표결과를 공유하고자 합니다.
발표는 발표자료를 기본으로 하여 국내 공인인증 사용 시나리오를 시작으로 하여
Web Certificate API에 대해 기본적인 내용을 발표하였습니다.
그리고 Web Certificate API를 기반으로 개발한 WebCert Prototype을 데모로 보여주고
마지막으로 인증서를 웹에서 사용하기 위해 필요한 API들에 대한 요구사항을 정리하여
발표하였습니다.
발표하는 도중 또는 끝나고 상당히 긴 시간 토론이 이어졌습니다.
토론의 내용은 다음 세가지로 정리할 수가 있습니다.
1. 인증서를 이용하기 위해 SOP Exception이 필요한 이유
2. 인증서를 저장하기 위해 안전한 저장소가 별도 필요한 이유
3. 인증서 관리와 사용을 위해 자바스크립트 구현 대신에 브라우저에 직접 구현하는 이유
위 세가지 문제에 대해서는 결론이 나오기 보다는 서로 문제에 대해 이해하는 수준이었습니다.
일단 현재는 WebCert가 WebCrypto WG의 Future work에 들어가 있는 상황이고 향후 위 문제들에 대한
논의를 통해 더욱 발전될 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
