All,

On the forums you see from time to time people asking how to integrate multilingual content that is stored in UCM.

I am writing this message so we can all elaborate on creating a “best practice” model for multilingual portals. After this I will write a paper or extensive blog post so we can share it with everybody.

Questions that arise when building multilingual content are following:

1)      What model should we use in UCM to enable multilingual content

2)      How can we make a navigation model dynamic so people can easily switch language

I’m hoping on some activity for this post because it is an important feature that really can help out the community and customers looking for multilingual support.

Regards

Yannick

If English is the primary language of the corp then English is the
primary language and the other languages are the secondary languages.
You can use related content component to keep these relationships. As
you must think about workflow between UCM and a product like
Worldserver to pass these packages back and forth, therefore content
baskets can be used. The content ID’s are all individual, yet the
relationships must be kept per content object version.

Portal delivery is a personalization model. Using a rule set. The
rules are processed based on data. The data stored can be IP, or other
user preferences stored.

Hi All,

I have created an ADF page with Pagecustomizable tags and contentpresenter region within exactly as shown in

The issue here is on Multilingual Support implementation in above Page:

Scenerio:
User 1 has logged in and added some text in english to the page.
Now User 2 who is French logs in with language selection as French ,then the content added by User 1 in English should be shown in French.
Similarly if User 3 (Spanish) logs inn ,he has to see content in Spanish.

How to achieve this?
Can someone help me over this.

Thanks
Sowmya

Hi Yannick,

What I believe that is possible use in UCM:

If you're using content presenter with Contributor Data File, in Region Definition used in CDF you can add 3 element definition, one for each language. The user fills the 3 elements and your jsff (Content Template) shows the language that user must see.

About the navigation model, I don't see a good way to provide pages in more that one language, because we can't use some bundle at Title page (right?). So, I believe that you need create one page to each language. If you're using content presenter you can use the same content in three pages.

Do you have other ideas?

Hi Sowmya,

I think that you can solve your problemn just like I sad, in your region definition add one element for each language. Do you understand?

Any doubts, my contacts:

And here's how to do it for JSF/ADF Faces and Portal Framework (namely, the Nav Model).
