Purpose of oracle.webcenter.collab.mail.MailUtils?

Can someone from Oracle provide some insight onto what the oracle.webcenter.collab.mail.MailUtils class is?

 

I am experiencing some slow navigation issues (3-4 minute waits) with WebCenter Spaces (only from the Home Space) and I'm wondering if MailUtils might be checking something and timing out.

 

I appreciate any insight into this class.
