Any luck with google plus hangouts?

I tried out chrome and firefox with the gtalk plugin, and in the hangout settings I can see the webcamstudio camera option, select it, see a working preview, but then get a message that the 'Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator' has crashed, and the hangout view reverts to the regular webcam.  Firefox locks up entirely.  Anyone else tried this?  

This is using 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10.

Chrome gives this error:
