Proxy stopped working

I managed to get certificates copied to the live CD, to file
directory /etc/iceweasel/profile/ from where the cert_override.txt
file gets copied to webc user. So this should work now and I could use
the Live CD on the kiosk machines.

But unfortunately the cd images I build today do not use the proxy. It
is set in the boot command and cat /proc/cmdline shows the correct
proxy. But those web sites that need to go throught the proxy do not
work, just time out. I tried other web pages, all seem to work well. I
also tried normal desktop machines, there those sites needing proxy do
work.

I built another image, only change I made was to remove the /etc/
iceweasel -directory in the chroot_local-includes/etc/iceweasl
directory. Same thing, all else is OK but proxy does not work.

I booted an image I made last week, there the proxy works. I suspect
lenny has updated and today has packages where http_proxy does not
work. Failed to spot any suitable bug in Debian BTS iceweasel page,
though.

Other things I noticed:

Why homepage button press takes to Gran Paradiso page and not the
homepage set in boot parameters?

If I scroll up with the mouse wheel and am already at the top of page,
I end up in home.com web page if I turn the wheel fast a few notches.

Do you have webconverger-base in your package list?

I have changed file config/chroot

# $LH_PACKAGES_LISTS: set package list to install
-# (Default: standard)
-LH_PACKAGES_LISTS="standard chinese iceweasel-l10n japanese korean
myspell printing webconverger wireless"
+# (Default: standard iceweasel-l10n finnish webconverger)
+LH_PACKAGES_LISTS="standard iceweasel-l10n webconverger"

I have in directory chroot_local-packageslists/ as only file
webconverger. That file does have webconverger-base.

Ok that looks good.

Though the packages file after a build is most telling. If
webconverger-base is in there, that's good.

Can you confirm if proxy is working on my botched release of 3.5?
http://download.webconverger.com/mini/

Kind regards,

I now checked on the target host with dpkg --list that webconverger-
base is installed.

I ran a series of test to zero in on this proxy problem, and found out
this:

Proxy works with
- image I created on 8th October
- webc-3.5a.mini.iso dated 15th October when I add htt_proxy to the
boot command

Proxy does not work with
- Looks like all images I have created this week
- webc-35a.mini.iso dated 15th October when in addition to htt_proxy I
add locale, keyb and change homepage.

I suspect it is the locale and/or keyb on the boot command that break
proxy.

LH_BOOTAPPEND_LIVE="quiet http_proxy=http://proxy.cedunet.com:8080
homepage=http://wiki.cedunet.fi/index.php/Webconverger-porttaali
locale=fi_FI.UTF-8 keyb=fi nosudo splash vga=791"

I suspected wrong. It is the hostname boot command parameter. If it is
set to a value other than webconverger, proxy does not work.

Seems I have now a good webconverger that works in our environment. I
may try to get finnish proofreading to the iceweasel edit box. Now it
uses english and finds most finnish words to be typos.

http://git.webconverger.org/?p=webconverger-base.git;a=blob;f=debian/webconverger.init#l39

Some people install webconverger-base on their Debian systems, so I
made the init only take affect on "Webconverger" systems.

So you have iceweasel-l10n-fi and myspell-fi in there?

Glad to hear you're making progress. :)

Actually I had
tmispell-voikko
iceweasel-l10n-fi
but I just asked on #debian-fi, and voikko does not work with
Iceweasel without mozvoikko, which is not yet in Debian. So I'll try
myspell-fi or maybe turn of proofreading in iceweasel.

I am very happy now.
