1. Alt + left / right arrows to act as back / forward buttons in the
browser accordingly.

2. Some way to turn off the computer. For example: a keyboard shortcut
such as Ctrl+Alt+T that opens a terminal or a different window where
one can type "halt" or "poweroff".

3. Option in the boot menu to install Webconverger to RAM and run it
from there. Make the cd automatically eject once the files are
extracted to RAM.

4. Make each tab have its own X (close button), just as it is in the
real Firefox

5. Plug-ins for playing more media file types, such as .wmv, .mpg,
audio files, etc.

6. When one clicks on a download link, nothing happens. Therefore,
make a window to pop up, taht would display that access is denied or
something similar.

I am also interested in number 3. Ejecting the CD on shutdown would
be just as good.

Ok, that sounds fine. Anyone with a patch?

I wanted to introduce a Web service to do this. e.g. http://webconverger/halt

Though some people think it's a security hole if a user is able to
shutdown the machine. I think we need to take a poll here. :-)

I was thinking of introducing a system whereby the kiosk is configured
from the homepage it's customised to point to. So permission to
shutdown the machine is delegated to a Web application. This requires
some more thought mind!

This feature already exists, though I have not tested it recently. Try
appending 'toram' to the cmdline.

I'll accept a patch to for this, though I did think an X on the far
right is a little cleaner and simpler.

Webconverger will support HTML5 audio/video in the near future. So
please convert your media to the open container format, OGG. :-)

The code to block the download could be overhauled. I welcome any patches.

Thank you for your suggestions!

The boot option "toram" should work. The CD will not be automatically ejected though.

I'd think webconverger is usually used on computers where the user will have physical access to the hardware and will be able to do this the hard way anyway. My vote goes for making the power button shut down (ACPI?).

I've used this, and in one version it would poke a bug to the surface. So you should test this before using it.
