Hi Folks,

I'm trying the live USB solution (version 4.4) on an EEEbox b202 PC
with no success. After the splash screen loads I just get a black
screen which suggests some driver issues with the Intel graphics
hardware. I've tried setting different video modes in the live.cfg
file with no success - anyone else had this issue or have any
suggestions?

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Have you tried the very latest build on http://build.webconverger.org/ ?

I'm planning to release this soon besides. It features the latest
linux kernel version 2.6.29.

Generally newer kernel means even better hardware support. Try it out
please. :-)

Kind regards,

Thanks for the suggestion Kai, tried that but no success so far. I
just noticed the following post from this forum. Would it be possible
to add this to the next daily build to see if that fixes the issue, or
would that be a customisation request (perfectly understandable if
it's the latter :-))?

Hi,

FYI, I had the same kind of problem installing Webconverger on B202
EeeBox.
I was getting this error : "sdvo output reported failure to sync"
It is a known bug with the Intel driver :http://forums.opensuse.org/
hardware/391937-intel-mobile-965-gm-lcd-bl...
For it to work I had to modify the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file by hand
adding the following lines :
Section "Monitor"
  Identifier   "LVDS"
  Option       "Ignore" "true"
EndSection

Section "Device"
  Driver       "intel"
  Identifier   "card0"
  Option       "monitor-LVDS" "LVDS"
EndSection

If you do that you'll also have to modify the /etc/rc2.d/
S20webconverger script so that it doesn't overwrite the xorg.conf file
at each reboot.

Note that default webconverger installation does not provide any
editor, thus to modify files I had to boot from the USB key in repair
mode, mount the hard drive and copy the nano editor to disk.

This would be a customisation request for me to drop in a custom
specific xorg.conf in the build process.

Ideally we need to chase this up with the Xorg peeps and make sure
video autodetection just works.

No worries, thanks for the suggestions Kai.
I might see about a customisation request as well, cos we're
interested in removing the navigation/address bar as well - I'll email
separately about that one.
