Hello - I'm very excited about using Webc at our school so I can
reduce our Win XP footprint ...

All I want to do is customize the default homepage and bookmarks. Can
someone please let me know how to do this?

Thanks!

Hi Luke,
for the homepage simply use boot parameters:
http://webconverger.org/boot/

I don´t know how to add bookmarks.

Simply make your homepage be the bookmarks or pointers to the relevant
sites of your school.

Example: http://portal.webconverger.com/

It is also possible to specify "two homepages" where one could be the homepage and one the bookmarks-page. I do believe the source for portal.webconverger.com is open BTW.

Am I missing something? When I boot off the cd, I only get a live
session - no boot or installation options as shown in http://webconverger.org/boot/

Try to boot from an usb-stick with changed boot parameters.

When you want to change a boot-cd you have to edit the iso-file. Thats
much more harder then editing the usb-stick.

Got it. But how do I install webc to an internal HD?

OK, makes sense - except I can't mount the squashfs to edit it.
"Version 4.0 not supported" (I'm using Ubuntu 9.04). Will try 9.10 and
see if that helps. Any other suggestions are welcome!

Try to use original squashfs from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/squashfs/

I had the same problems when I started customizing webconverger.
Compiling directly from the sources helped a lot.

OK, that worked. Now if you would please tell me where the default
bookmarks and index.html page reside inside that squashfs? I can't
find them anywhere...

Thanks again!

You should not have any local bookmarks.

By default Webconverger simply points the browser to
http://portal.webconverger.com/

OK, but is there a way to change that default page?

Yes alter homepage= in scripts/config following this guide:
http://webconverger.org/develop/

Or if you using USB alter live.cfg using this guide:
http://webconverger.org/usb/
