I love webconverger because it is so incredibly easy to make my own public

Thank you. Can I quote you on:

Of course!

For the purpose of a web kiosk however, I think Slitaz is the way to go.
Together with gPXE it could be become really powerful.

Webconverger can netboot, but I generally do not like the thin client model.

Ok, should have realized that, but I don't have experience with
neither nettbooting nor Slitaz (will have to fix that soon). However,
my main point was that of Slitaz since it is considerably leaner, and
if it is similar to Puppy Linux it will also be faster than
Webconverger based on Debian Live. Assuming that Webconverger doesn't
load everything into ram and run from there, right? Is

Better printing support, wireless support, more easy customisation, and more
speed would be cool for us, and then to make it perfect some administration
thing for tracking internet time and charging for use.... :-)

Please share your customisations and I might put them in trunk. These
are all things I have been wanted to do. Printing support is quite
good in maxi, no?

I tried the maxi.img that was available, and there (with usb pen) the
printers weren't recognized, even though a manual scan with the cups
webinterface found them without problems. Nor did the print dialog
show up with the key combination described on the web, and even though
the printers were found and looked like they could work I think I was
unable to print any test page. I will test the next maxi you put out.

Would it be possible to have text and buttons in message windows center on
the screen (since the window uses the whole screen), rather then spread
accordingly to the upper left corner and lower right corner?

Not sure what you mean, but popup modal dialogs do have a "monocle"
layout. I find this is best and some people can get confused by
popups. Even if they are in the center of the screen. Trust me. In
"monocle" layout I can't really influence the way to dialogs are
rendered (yes, the OK button is at opposite end of the screen) without
hacking ugly XUL code. File a bug at Mozilla. ;)

I was thinking about how the text and the buttons in the dialog are at
opposite ends of te screen. I don't know how problematic it is but
when there's only a short line of text and one button, it can be hard
to realize what happened, it could be hard to at all find the button.

Where is Java (it is desperately needed for internet banking in Norway)!?

Java would bloat Webconverger incredibly. It's a customisation option.

What about putting it in maxi?

Thanks. Let me know if you're happy I share your email and my reply on
webc-users mailing list.

You can share, I've signed up now.

BTW: In the latest (3.2) version of webconverger, removing "nosudo"
from the boot parameters and pushing "shift+alt+enter" did not bring
up a terminal. It brought up something looking like it belonged to the
window manager, but that is all.

BTW2: I've successfully used "locale=no"

BTW3: Are you sure you want to share your home directory with the
whole world (if that is what it is), including Spamassasin whitelist
and all?

Yes I know slitaz is leaner. You do read my blog right? :)
http://webconverger.org/blog/entry/Roadkill/

I can't follow the path of Slitaz as I would break from official
Debian packages. I might do it as an exercise, but ultimately moving
away from Debian packages will give me even more work and I'm already
swamped.

When the Webconverger project becomes a little more established, I
would like to do a embedded ARM version which would be more like
slitaz in size. Right now I don't have the resources to do that.

I should buy a printer. :)

But seriously, when I did have a network printer setup it does work. I
have not tested it for awhile as I've moved and I don't own a printer.

Besides the incredible bloat that Java brings, I don't think Java has
any place on the Web. AFAIK there is no technical reason for banks to
use Java. I do work on a project that allows Java to implement
standards of the Web: http://wiki.webvm.net/

That's OK. :)

So I'll leave it as a customisation option. You're welcome to make
generic maxi builds with Java in and we'll link to them from the wiki.

Maybe Ctrl+Alt+Enter? Does it work on any versions for you?

Please feel free to add that to:

I'm not sure what you are referring to. Can you point out the problem
(URL) and identify the risks in a little more detail?

Kind regards,
