Call for Nominations

Bioclues Innovation, Research and Development (BIRD) Award for
Outstanding
Contributions in the area of Bioinformatics for the year 2013.

Nominations are invited for the third BIRD annual award for
outstanding
contributions in the area of Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics.
This
award is meant not just for academicians but also for scientists who
have
shown exemplary excellence in the field of Bioinformatics. While
scientists
who have been working for not-for-profit organizations will be given
importance, the ones who are working for commercial organizations are
no
less exception if the research they have carried out has been widely
honored and have made longstanding contributions.The inaugural awards
kicked off in 2011 with couple of awards given to Dr. Pugalenthi
Ganesan
and Sarwar Azam <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_G1pFEdhPE> while the
2012
edition has seen couple of awards along with three special mention
awards
given away <http://www.youtube.com/biocluesin> to Dr. Abhinav Grover,
Sunita Manjari, Anil Kumar, Hima Kumari, Selvaraj Chandrabose.  The
nominee
MUST have adhered to two or more of the following during the last few
years:

   -

   Promoted international stands for R and D in India.
   -

   Created novel models/opportunities or Bioinformatics-based tools.
   -

   Mentored student researchers.
   -

   S/he is less than 35 years and preferably a PhD in Bioinformatics
or
   related field.
   -

   Secured grants in organizing international events and activities in
   support of Bioinformatics.
   -

   Have penchant for and respect Open Access
