Heydrippin1724,

If you've been hacked, then you'll need to reach out to our live support teamk:

You can contact EA Help via the EA Help website. Detailed instructions on how to use the EA Help service can be found here.

They can help you re-secure your account, and then they can take a look into how they can best help you with your missing content. Start a chat/call if you can, as it's the fastest way to get help. Once you've selected your product and platform, selecting "Manage my account" -> "Hacked account" gives me the option for a live chat fairly consistently.

We also have an article here with some advice on how to keep your account safe in the future:

Hey @lukedarby,

Unfortunately we're not able to help with account issues like account compromises here on the forums. The only people who can help with that issue specifically is our live support team:

You can contact EA Help via the EA Help website. Detailed instructions on how to use the EA Help service can be found here.

You can try contacting them again, but if they've said that they're unable to help then I'm afraid that there's nothing we can do here on our end.

In a statement, the company said the accounts were compromised through phishing techniques and other social engineering methods that were used to dupe EA customer experience team members into helping the hackers around two-factor authentication. EA said the hackers used "threats" to "exploit human error within our customer experience team."

"Over the last few weeks we've been made aware of reports that high-profile player accounts are being targeted for takeover. Through our initial investigation we can confirm that a number of accounts have been compromised via phishing techniques," EA said in a statement.

"At this time, we estimate that less than 50 accounts have been taken over using this method. We are currently working to identify rightful account owners to restore access to their accounts, and the content within, and players affected should expect a response from our team shortly. Our investigation is ongoing as we thoroughly examine every claim of a suspicious email change request and report of a compromised account."

Gamers took to social media over the last two weeks to complain about the issues. While the EA statement only cites less than 50 accounts, the initial story about the incident from Eurogamer said the top 100 traders in FIFA Ultimate Team were targeted. Many of these players make significant amounts of money through their gameplay.

French soccer star Valentin Rosier wrote on Twitter that his FIFA account had been hacked as well, causing him to lose access to 60 million credits. He also expressed worry because he put money into his account.

"I told EA live chat 2 times to add notes to my account to put that my account was being targeted by hackers and to not change any details, and they still did it. Nothing more I could have done and tbh I shouldn't have to do anything. It is basic security, disgusting stuff," FIFA player FUT Donkey said.

In the comment section, the player shared a screenshot of dozens of emails received from EA's customer support team, explaining that the hackers were able to "spam the livechat asking to change my account details until some incompetent advisor finally gave them the account."

"It's not enough to get my stuff back, every last person who got hacked needs to get their shit back or we are taking action, clear breaches of data protection regulations in every country in Europe," the player added.

EA said all of its advisors and individuals who assist with the service of EA accounts will get "individualized re-training and additional team training" centered on security and phishing. The company will also be "implementing additional steps to the account ownership verification process" like managerial approval for all email change requests.

They also plan to update the software used for the customer experience processes so that they can "better identify suspicious activity, flag at-risk accounts, and further limit the potential for human error in the account update process."

"By definition, customer support staff are expected to assist people who often have imperfect information about their accounts. Unfortunately, scammers can also amass imperfect information about their victim's accounts," Williams said. "Operations that provide access to high profile or high value accounts should require review by multiple staff (ideally including a senior staff member)."

I just had the similar reply (see below). They're obviously aware of the issue and have decided this is how they deal with it for now. I feel that this issue is bigger than "it's just a thing you can't stop and doesn't matter - get Google to disavow them..."

Thank you for reaching out to us. My name is XXXX and I am here to assist you today.

I understand there are some unauthorised activity initiated in your store and I would be more then happy to resolve this issue for you.

This search term is usually distinct from typical searches on the site (such as being in Korean on an American shop, and including a domain) and may span up to thousands of these kinds of backlinks. It can be a bit scary for the merchant but there are no real security concerns here.

The technical term of what has happened is called Spam Backlinks. I get that this is not exactly the most pleasant thing to have so I have attached a link here on how you can potentially stop it from happening.

Option 2: "Code" it away

Using your SEO reporting software (Which in your case is Google Search Console) you can collect all the bad backlinks into a .txt file and report them via Google's Disavow Tool. Information on the structure can be found in their help doc here. Note that the backlinks to list will be the referral site address rather than their search term URL.

This is an advanced feature and should only be used with caution. If used incorrectly, this feature can potentially harm your site's performance in Google's search results. We recommend that you only disavow backlinks if you believe that there are a considerable number of spammy, artificial, or low-quality links pointing to your site, and if you are confident that the links are causing issues for you.

Have you had someone do some work on your store in the past? With that said, based on the URL it looks like that link was created in part by using the 'Vendor' field to create a URL based on Fifa coins.

Go to your Admin > Products page and click on the 'Product Vendor' filter to find any vendors that mention 'Fifa Coins'. When you filter them, those products that include that vendor will appear in the products list. From there you can select those products for editing, and the fifa coins mention from the vendor field.

I don't know how to get rid of them as the pages aren't in any accessible area of Admin. Had a call into Shopify support earlier today and they were very perplexed and said they will get back to me with a resolution. (hopefully)

To respond to Dirk's question...In my case no one outside has worked on the site and all admin has been done from the same location for years. Login is always done via two-stage.

Nonetheless, it has the appearance that someone on the outside was able to generate the SPAM pages.
