Hi, All-
The founder of Infamous Mothers— a project to transform the way society understands, connects with, and values the lives of Black mothers— laptop is dying and she can't afford a replacement. She has fairly simple needs, most of her work is research and writing, email, social media, general internet. She currently uses both Google Docs and Microsoft Office as her primary applications, but a photo manager and basic image editing may be required in the future.
If anyone knows someone with a used Mac or PC laptop that's in fairly good condition (should live for the next year or two unless it's felled by spilled coffee or rapidly encounters pesky pavement), that could be donated or purchased for a pittance, please contact me: Alnisa Allgood, Collaboration for Good, Inc. We can handle making the donation tax-deductible if required.
So if you work for a large firm that donates equipment at the end of each year, or if you happen to have a spare 2-3 cycles old laptop that you were going to scavenge for parts or you know, "prep it like its new, when you have time", then this could be a great time to make sure a graduate student and early stage entrepreneur's dreams don't go down with that click-off death sound. It would allow her to finish work on her current school projects, and keep progressing on her Infamous Mother's kickstarted, book commitments— which in hindsight should have included the cost of a replacement machine, but didn't.
She needs something pretty quickly, like by early next week at the latest. So, if you could spread the word to groups and organizations you work with, that would be awesome. My contact info is:
