I'd like to use more javascript in my form & grid apps, to get more use of ajax. This won't work unless I can get equivalent to SQLFORM.grid, which is great for someone as lazy as me.
It seems from my research that backbone.js may be what I want. (It also seems that I am at least four years late in wanting to learn this)
I'm wondering if there are any web2py examples or tutorials. I've been googling for such & looking at web2py slices but haven't found anything simple enough. In web2py slices I couldn't find anything.

Or else I will learn and write one, so any hints will not be wasted.

I looked at it a while ago. It looks very nice, but it's only partially open source (the edit plugin is not)

Backgrid.js looks promising. Getting web2py to populate a backbone collection was pretty easy.

I like handsontable a lot. It allows cut and paste to and from Excel. It can customized in HTML down to the single cells.
