It seems that if you let chrome translate a page, particularly from something like English to a different language system like Chinese or Japanese, some quite large shifts can be recorded, in both the webperf API's and UKM.

Are these in someway filtered out of CrUX?

I can see arguments that a shift did happen, but I'm not sure it would fit my definition of unexpected.

Ideally these should be treated as an interaction — the same way that an interaction on the page itself is treated — and the shifts are ignored. But that requires a bit of work to allow that to happen. We have this open bug to track that: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1170401. Would be good for those affected to star it and add any useful feedback to that bug so it can be prioritised appropriately.
