Just noticed a new guy, Hi there!

I feel like we need a proper plan, I know I'm kinda out of the loop at
the moment while I'm moving down to London, but I'm hoping the
intensity can be ramped up once I'm settled.

The FHPS work still needs to be completed.
We need a plan for integration into Websharper.
Possibly a quick bolt on to form a POC for now but moving forward we
need a proper strategy.

What would the ideal solution entail? Are we looking at different
point of view on this?

I know when I spoke with Adam he had slightly a different viewpoint
from Ryan, so are we planning for multiple things here, or guiding to
some unified solution in the future?

Let's schedule a call soon. What day/time works for you, Dave? I know you have perhaps the most fluctuating schedule following your move. Having a call to get everyone on board the OWIN effort really helped.

Things to define:
1) Project Lead
2) Goals
3) Timelines

We've sort of given our ideas so far on another thread, but it would be nice to have a set of goals as a team.

In case you don't have it, my Skype id is riles01.

Cheers,
Ryan

P.S. Adam, WebSharper was really well received at Boise Code Camp. No video of the talk, though.

I havent moved yet, I move down to London on Sunday so sometime after
then would be best, need to source a broadband provider in london too.

Possible tasks:

plugging in FHPS into frack
switch to NuGet
Integrate Frank and sitelets
Finish of parser combinators in Frack
Write a demo app for profiling
profile code based on demo app
refactor and streamline flow (HPFS -> Frack -> Frank -> WebSharper)

These are just from memory...

Excellent timing on asking this question. As I've been experimenting with WebSharper, I've come to realize that I'm not sure Frack and Frank have a future. WebSharper really embodies what I want. It has taken a little while to see it, and the REST aspects could use some work, but it pretty well achieves how I want to build web applications. Thus, unless either of you can help me see where Frack and Frank still have a place, I think I might switch to working from an angle of WebSharper extensions. I'm also happy to work on refactoring Frack to be a hosting adapter layer. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I've been so swamped at work lately that I've not had time to make any progress at all. I'm hoping to get our schedule cleaned up so that I will have time again to work on side projects soon.

I have been swamped too, missed a deadline on Friday, got another one
to miss in two weeks :)

I dont think this is the end of the road, the questions I was asking
at the beginning were because I could see an overlap between the
products.

All we are really wanting to do is have an excellent replacement for
IIS and asp.net development using a solely f# based stack, we just
need to refocus and product a hit list schedule for the missing
pieces...

Hi Ryan,

I see a great potential in an F# web container, for various reasons
that are worth many emails themselves, so I definitely think Frack has
a solid future. The original idea we started out with was exactly
what you just derived below, basically to host WebSharper sitelets in
Frack, preferably as an OWIN container - opening up, if needed,
alternate paths to other hosts that may have different strengths.
This way we can have an all-F# stack for writing and running web
applications.

Thoughts?
Adam.

I reckon Frack could be a good fit, Frank has a bit of cross over...

I would like to make a solid container implementation too although Im not in a position to commit to the work at the moment as I have some other bits of F# to finish of first.  I am however in a position to work on a HPS front to Frack, I would like to use a version thats not going to require refactoring in the future, I dont know the scope of the work you have been doing Ryan, if any.  I can use the version you posted a link to a while back...

Im looking forward to getting things going...

So is everyone busy on other projects still?

I think I'm freeing up. Work has gotten ridiculously busy of late, but I think I'm through the worst of it.

I think the latest is stable. I've got a concurrency issue with ASP.NET I haven't sorted out. My other changes are on hold. Not sure moving to a normal continuation monad is the right move at this point. Thoughts?

I have lost context, what's this in relation to?

You were asking about Frack versions against which to work.
