hi guys,

Been playing with dns safety for a week now. Seems like i have some lic issues. Checking the website - i see no option to pay so I assumed it is a free product.

How to get lic running OR do i have any constraints in running unlic mode? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Tomi,

 

The product is in beta stage and thus does not require any license to run.

The updater is actually from web safety and it needs the license key to download the definition file updates.

 

Please use the one I am attaching now.

Just save it into /opt/dnssafety/etc/ folder.

 

Please share what you need to be implemented in the product!!

Product is amazing. There is a slight learning curve to get to know the gui and where to find what, but i had it up and running in few minutes!

Install was a breeze, deployment was peanuts and i had my system running on dns safety pretty quickly.

Not sure if possible, but once you hit a category that is blocked, would be nice that dns safety replaces blocked domain with local one saying that this particular site was blocked due to enforced policy.

Of course, that would only work for http/https type of requests ...

Another cool feature would be to integrate some blacklists that are openly available.

List here:

http://opendbl.net/

So those get dynamically updated by talos (cisco) blocklist.de etc and are pretty up to date with most common malware actors.

Now imagine possibility to block any DNS if IP fits to those from that list! Even an option that DNSSAFETY sends a mail to admin if anyone got a hit on that list would be amazing - instant info about compromized machine.
