Hello everyone,

After more than half a year of development the next version of Web Safety 7.6 is released. This version has the following improvements:

  • The base OS for the virtual appliance is now Ubuntu Linux 20.04 LTS. A lot of small fixes in the Admin UI because of base OS upgrade.
  • Admin UI is based on Django 3.1.7 now.
  • The application runs using Python 3.8 now (standard on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS).
  • Due to CentOS operating system shutdown we have dropped support for rolling CentOS and Web Safety RPMs are tested on RedHat RHEL 8 now.
  • Required Debian OS version is now Debian 11.
  • Fixed YouTube filtering errors in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

The virtual appliance for VMware ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V can be downloaded from the following URLs:

The same virtual appliance is also available as PAYG or BYOL virtual machine from Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS:

Please if you have time do give it a look. Add issues and comments using github's new issue page at https://github.com/diladele/websafety/issues/new

Upgrade steps are at https://docs.diladele.com/administrator_guide_stable/upgrade/index.html but due to underlying OS change from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS upgrades are not easy.

Thanks for everyone for making this possible.

Raf.
