Grace, mercy, and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our
Lord!
The
WorldEnglish.Bible web
site is live. It has the same content as
WorldEnglishBible.org,
which will remain active. The World English Bible files are
primarily hosted on
eBible.org,
along with hundreds of other Bible translations. These sites (and a
few others) are kept updated in near real time as typos are
corrected and as punctuation and grammar are updated.
Currently, there is a punctuation consistency review and pre-print
check in progress for the whole World English Bible. This is
resulting in numerous but tiny adjustments, like swapping a colon
for a semicolon where modern usage varies from usage common in 1901,
and some word order adjustments to match modern usage. No major
changes are being done in the 66-book protocanon of the World
English Bible without good justification. (It still happens from
time to time, but most such adjustments for better accuracy have
already been made.)
In the Deuterocanon, the additions to
Daniel found in the
Greek Septuagint but not in the traditional Hebrew text of
Daniel
have been combined, in order, into
Daniel (Greek). This
includes the accounts of the
Song of the Three Holy Children,
Susanna, and
Bel and the Dragon. That provides better
context for these stories, and more accurately reflects how they
appear in the Greek Septuagint. This is also more consistent with
how Esther from the Hebrew and Esther from the Greek are handled in
the World English Bible.
Also in the Deuterocanon, the first manual editing pass of the
Wisdom
of Solomon is done.
