Received this comment from an old friend of ours, Bob Berwyn, now with Inside Climate News.  Sharing his comment with permission.

"Thanks for sharing Kiley's article about language barriers in research. We had a talk about that at one of our recent staff meetings after I interviewed the IPCC chair about the increasing scientific contribution from Global South Countries.

The one big thing that bugs me in these discussions is that one key fact seems to go under, and that is that we ALREADY know all that we need to know about solving the world's polycriss. We do NOT actually need more research right now, we need action based on what we already know.

Of course we need to keep broadening our approach, but lack of different languages in research is not the biggest of our problems, and that should be pointed out up front in any discussion like this, IMO.

Anyway, this isn't meant as a criticism of Kiley's story or anything, just food for thought. We need to focus more!"

Best,

Bob Berwyn
