Good morning! Today’s top story takes us to an empty plot in rural Louisiana that could end up transforming the global steel industry. It’s where Hyundai is planning to build a $6 billion iron and steel plant, with plans to eventually power the facility with green hydrogen. But in the nearby city of Donaldsonville, residents, leaders, and environmental advocates tell Maria Gallucci they’re worried the plant may just become another polluting landmark within Louisiana’s “Cancer Alley.”

And in cleantech startup news, Base Power is building a network of home batteries in Illinois, with some residents scoring backup systems for as little as $95 upfront. Julian Spector has the details.
