morning! Today, we head with
reporter Brian Martucci to
northern Minnesota’s Iron Range.
Once the epicenter of American
iron production, the region has
spent the last few decades
watching mines shut down and jobs
disappear. A company called Mesabi
Metallics sees the burgeoning
green steel industry as key to the
range’s revitalization, but as
Brian reports, it’s going to take
some serious work to make it
happen.
Next, we
drive down to Indiana, which is
quickly becoming one of the U.S.’s
top solar-building states. But
with more solar has come more
opposition from rural residents
who fear the loss of farmland and
agricultural character, Kari
Lydersen reports.
