As it did today, the Front Range is expected to press the 80-degree for most of the coming work week, then soar next weekend.

Today's high in Denver was 77 degrees.

But Western Colorado faces a deep chill tonight, with freeze warnings from midnight to 7 a.m. from Craig to Durango. A freeze warning also is in effect for the agriculture-rich San Luis Valley from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m.

"Prolonged freezing temperatures may damage tender vegetation. sensitive plants should be covered or brought indoors again tonight," the National Weather Service Office in Grand Junction said this afternoon.

Overnight temperatures in parts of West Slop are expected to fall into the 20s tonight.

The high in Craig today was 67 degrees, but after a low temperature below freezing tonight, should rebound to 75 degrees tomorrow, forecasters said. Durango is expected to reach 74 Monday.

Denver's coolest temperature in the week ahead appears to be Thursday, with a forecast high of 71 degrees and a 10 percent chance of showers of thunderstorms, forecasters said. Rain chances return on Friday, with a forecast high of 75 degrees, before warning into the mid- to upper-80s next weekend.

The average high temperature for Denver this week is 76 to 77 degrees.
