Good Evening,
What a stunning December afternoon across central Indiana! As cloud cover gradually thinned and sunshine broke through, temperatures surged to near
60° more than
20° above average for this time of year. It felt far more like early fall than the heart of December, giving Hoosiers a welcome (and surprising) taste of warmth. As we head through the overnight hours and into Wednesday morning, you'll notice a chillier
start as temperatures drop into the 20's and 30's with patchy fog possible. Morning sunshine gives increasing clouds in the afternoon. How quickly the clouds arrive dictates if temperatures will be the
lower 50's or upper 50's. For now, we're splitting the difference with mid 50's, which is still well above the seasonal average of
38°. Expect a
foggy Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, with
locally dense fog, areas of mist and even some
drizzle. Temperatures will hold nearly steady overnight, hovering around
50°, which is extremely mild for Christmas morning.
