George, the Botanic Garden recorded 41mm in ONE hour, tho' it appears be the hour to 17h UTC, a bit later than your rainfall peak if I have the timing correct.
No wonder there were so many videos on twitter.

52.6 mm 24hr total here to 0900 today. Peak rainfall was between 1530 GMT and 1610 GMT. According to SEPA map (https://www2.sepa.org.uk/rainfall/) Botanics had 57.6 mm in the same 24hr period. Looking at that map it is all very localised. Check out Bannockburn, nr Stirling, which claims 59 mm to 09 on the 4th and 61 mm to 09 on the 5th. (If I've read it correctly).

41.0 mm in one hour is a lot. For some reason the Times chose to report it as 11 million litres.
