If I want to see the MetO forecast for Sennen (which is normally pretty accurate) Then the top half of the screen is full of beach safety tips. I can close that, I'm then presented with a beware of RIP currents section. Then I can move onto the forecast, which I why I went to the site - got there in the end.

I then clicked on the forecast video, and am informed the strong wind (well I wouldn't call it strong myself, just refreshingly breezy) could produce some choppy seas (fair enough, even if it is blindingly obvious), and "strong tides?!" (I assume she was referring to the possibilty of RIP currents where the wind is onshore and piling the water up against the beach). As it happens the tides are very average at the moment. I was also warned about UV. Surprisingly cold water shock wasn't mentioned.

Safety advice notices put up by lifeguards, who generally know what they're talking about, and are specific to a certain beach at a certain time, are fine.

Porthmeor this afternoon, some attractive mid / high level cloud at times. Some produced showers early today, though I doubt if anything measurable reached the ground anywhere.

I agree that the beach safety stuff gets in the way if you just want to look at the forecast.

However, it is the RNLI who ask that these messages are included in Met Office location forecasts (for beaches).  They should only appear when there are medium and high risk scenarios.  The overriding message, though, is to speak to lifeguards on the beach about the local conditions on the day.  There will be links in the alert section to the RNLI web site and their beach advice pages.
