Now 4 weeks since last rainfall here in S.Essex and only 4mm in last 35 days. If we don't get a wet Spring I can envisage some major summer water shortages in the summer and other environmental impacts considering last year's major Spring and Summer drought.

11 hours on from your message Dave and you may have triggered something - instability ahead of the cold front giving widespread showers this evening - raining here (just SW of London) now. Norfolk and Suffolk seem to be the worst affected areas though, with a long-term deficiency, marked by very low river flows (Waveney especially) - I came across some interesting comments on twitter today from that neck of the woods.
