Cooler with a maximum of just 16.4C, but light winds & strong sunshine.

The new trial MetO temperature forecast continues to be better, in all conditions.

Actual 16.4C
Forecasts for today from yesterday afternoon.
Trial Forecast 15C
Normal forecast 14C
BBC 13C!! - where did that come from, it's 15C at St. Mary's airport on top of a hill stuck out in the Atlantic (The SST along the north Cornish coast is around15C -15.2C at Perranporth. https://coastalmonitoring.org/realtimedata/?chart=76&tab=waves )

Max temperature 17.1C, still rather cool but offset by the strong sunshine

Maximum Temperature (All forecasts 1 day ahead)
Definitely a pattern!
                                         5th        6th      7th
Actual                             16.4C  17.1C    18C?
MetO Trial Forecast     15C      16C       17C
MetO Normal forecast 14C      15C      16C
BBC                                 13C      14C      15C
The BBC one, I suspect, is using a grid point over the sea, as it rarely varies much from the SST throughout the year.

Where the new trial forecasts seriously fall down is on cloud cove.

So forecast 08:30 this morning. for 09:00 onwards. The thick cloud suppressing the temperature (15.3C @ 09:00)

In practice @ 0900 - It's a beautiful near calm, sunny morning.

There is cloud to the west of Lands End, but that's a while off, and even out on Scilly @09:15 the cloud is very well broken.

What you gain on the swings, you loose on the roundabouts. Neither have cracked the sea breezes. Both were very similar windwise yesterday, around 11mph NW, gusting 17-19mph sums it up for the whole day.

Beautiful swim off the Battery Rocks, Penzance 2pm in a flat sea during the lull created by the sea breeze effect. It's that lull which allows the temperature to rise, peaked around 1:30. Just before the NW wind picked up again, to peak at 18:00 due to the late heating of the north coast.
