Wild waves at high tide today at Hope Cove, S. Devon

A sunny winter morning but with quite a swell and crashing waves

Even a few cold water swimmers enjoying themselves.

Lovely wave at times for the surfers, with a bit of shelter. 

It's been a long time (many years) since we've had such a consistent very big swell. It's still in the 4-5m range at Sevenstones. The SST is >12C still, even offshore.

Looking at the FAX charts, the swell soon set to increase if anything. A surfers dream chart for winter. MIld, light winds,  and a deep, slow moving,  depression in just the right place.
