There has (so far!) been a sea breeze, albeit a very light one, which actually lowers the temperature right on the coast.
At Sennen, there wasn't even enough wind to raise the swimming area flags, they barely even fluttered. But, on driving back to Penzance at 11:30, after a swim, the car thermometer showed 22C at the top of the cliff, 27C just a couple of miles back. During the May heatwave there was virtually no difference, despite stronger onshore winds.
To show how near calm it was.
The sun was fierce so 22C on the beach was quite hot enough!
The light really was that blue. Slightly less crowded than Bournemouth, or indeed St Ives I suspect. It's amazing how visitors cram into just a very few crowded spots, normally plugged by lifestyle magazines, and celebrity chefs.
In fact, the beach would have been a lot busier if there was anything resembling a swell, it's frequently sees far more in the sea in winter, if there's a good wave.
