GFS is changing every run but currently has Leslie wandering around aimlessly in the Atlantic for the next 10 days at least.

Len it is negative PV, the type that throws up high pressure. If Leslie tracked further NW it would help amplify a block. Cold low troposphere air is generally positive PV. Are you perhaps confusing ordinary vorticity with Ertel potential vorticity (PV)?

Yes,  my mistake.

I was focussed on the enhanced moisture processes which complicate the developments.
