Fog has persisted since the early hours of Boxing Day morning.  Not unusual in some parts of the west Midlands, but due to topography and its plethora of local effects such as katabatic breezes it is unusual in my immediate area.
It is not thick vertically, however, as many found out when on their Boxing Day walks yesterday:

This the view from Titterstone Clee hill looking west over Ludlow towards Wales.  I live to the right hand side of the image down in the murk.
There was a marked temperature inversion around 1000-1200 FT AMSL, with abundant dry and warm air above.  Down at low levels the maximum temperature was around 5 or 6 Celsius.  At places such as Pennerley, Shropshire (1100 FT AMSL) the maximum was close to 14 Celsius.

I was last at Titterstone Clee Hill in 1993 when the new weather radar was officially opened by John Selwyn Gummer. It looks like it's still there on Google maps! Some lovely views from up there when it's not raining. Very misty here in Cholsey - about 2000m and cloud about 100ft. The pylons near here have their tops in the cloud.

It seems to have got a new dome from when I was there - this is what it's like now. And memory isn't as good as it was Gummer was Cobbacombe Cross opening the previous year.

Hill top radar and radio masts usually (if accessible) offer fantastic views.

When I lived in Tobermory, Isle of Mull, I would go up an Inbhire Hill (just 12 minutes away) every promising sunset and occasionally in the middle of a summer night.

A potential midnight fright (but I wasn't fooled) was the snuffling in the dark of Hairy Coos (Highland Cattle).

A few of my hundreds of photos.  Happy days 2012-2015.

My 'model' Stella (sitting by the Trig Point) is still occasionally useful:-)  Ssshh.  Don't mention my comments!

A bit more beautiful views from my local hill, unnamed but I call it Silly Bridge Hill because it's on the way to Silly Bridge. Good photos. I won't tell either!
