Early afternoon the temperature reached 21.2C with the sun casting faint shadows through sea mist & mizzle. Dew point near 20C. Last nights minimum 18.4C.

We are well south of all the excitement, even most of the rain has been passing to the north. <1mm so far, the only real rain around 13:00. Maximum gust so far 24mph. Even Lands End has only reached 33 mph. I'm sure I'll record my strongest gust as the following NW wind funnels around the Lands End peninsula. (In the far south west SW winds tend to be overforecast, NW winds underforecast. )

July in Penzance:-
Mean Max:- 21.4C (+1.1)
Mean Min:-  14.9C (+1.4)
Mean: 18.1C (+1.3C)

Rainfall:- 43.5mm (55%)

Sunshine near normal, based on Camborne etc.

I just checked, yes it was rather muggy here too though I suspect it came as shock to you Graham in the Far West as from my experience, very high dewpoints are a rarity there. It always feels fresher. Yesterday (Sunday 3rd), maximum was 25.3°C with a dewpoint high of 19.6°C. Nothing exceptional as we have had dewpoints higher than that many times this year already. Highest dewpoint so far this year was 21.3°C on the 17th July.

July in the Otter Valley, Devon:

Warmer, a little sunnier and much drier than average.
Mean maximum = 25.0°C
Mean minimum = 13.0°C
Mean = 19.0°C

Rain = 12.2 mm (25%)
Sunshine = 261.7 hours.
