A cold night with a moderate hoar frost, the frost melting away since 0430z.  Clear skies for the first part of the night, with high cloud and some thin medium cloud after midnight, then a recent invasion of thickening medium layers.  Good or very good visibility.  Surface wind generally F1 and varying between SW and NE, and more recently S-SSW F2.  Minimum temperature so far is -0.7 (0149z).

Slight rain started 0745z becoming moderate from 0820z.  Patchy low stratus forming over the south Shropshire hills for a time which has now cleared.  Thick medium cloud above.  Good visibility dropping to moderate at times.  Interesting surface wind trace this morning owing to the strong SSE-SE flow being affected by Wenlock Edge, currently reading NW F1.
